Would you need us if you were pain free?

Pain management is nearly synonymous with podiatric medicine (Chiropody)
- Podiatry Management, June/July 2023, pg. 79

Guess what the focus of foot care was in June/July 2023, and very appropriately so. Most people rely on their feet every day; for driving, at work, for play, chasing after children... The list goes on. How many of us pay enough attention to our feet, given how much we use/abuse them daily? If we did the same with our hands, what condition would they be in? What would our nails look like and could we keep our jobs with that? Our feet also support our full body weight and are literally stepped on all day. Our feet are not typically seen, and end up the unsung heroes. Thankfully, they and you do not have to suffer without help.

Let us use plantar fasciitis as an example, given it is one of the most commonly seen conditions in-clinic. A full-scope Chiropody clinic is able to offer several strategies to reduce and prevent the pain. This includes therapy such as taping, laser and shockwave, as well as biomechanical tools such as splints, shoes and supports that reduce pressure on the foot. The list of available help does go on from here. That said, exercise is one of the best "medications" that can be offered. A certified Chiropodist will be able to discuss all available options and work with you to form a treatment plan that works best for you.
